Yes, I do have some news. As I reported in File770,

On the morning of August 17,  I experienced  a terrible fall, resulting in a huge gash on my forehead that makes me look a bit like Frankenstein; I also had some small neck fractures, but no surgery was required, as they are expected to heal by themselves. I was able to return home on August 18, but I will have to wear a neck brace for 6 to 8 weeks, which will obviously affect my productivity and communications with colleagues.

It has been observed that the true key to longevity is avoiding falling, and for the last three years I have been walking with extreme care so that I wouldn’t fall. On August 17, my luck ran out.

I’m still doing a limited bit of writing, and seem to be getting a little bit better each day.

Meanwhile, I am stilly awaiting the publication by Wildside Press of my book The Case Against Space: Essays on the Space Program, Science Fiction, and the Contemporary World, as well as the Second Edition of my 2012 book on the spacesuit film. Here is an image of its cover:

My article on “The Moon in Science Fiction” has recently been posted to The Oxford Research Encyclopedia of Planetary Science, and I have two forthcoming essays in books, though I have not yet written them. My recent online publications are listed in the Archive. To keep busy, I am submitting a proposal for a new book and am working on preparing four compilations of my previously published articles and reviews.
